Here’s a sneak peek of the upcoming Helicopter Hagen extra, which will be about Hagen unintentionally harassing the fuck out of Aiden and Julian because he thinks they’re sad living at home without their kids. In reality, they’re very happy and just want him to leave them alone.

Julian’s POV

“Guys?” Hagen calls cautiously before he risks another knock.

“What the fuck is happening right now?” Aiden grumbles at my side, and I take that as my cue. 

Sliding out of bed, I pluck a shirt from the ground on the way, tug it overhead and rub the crust from my eyes by the time I inch our door open. Hagen stands on the other side, looking just as he did yesterday— well rested, overly joyful and excited as if he’s five again and it’s Christmas morning.

“Hagen?” I breathe, eyeing him sleepily through the gap. “What are you doing here?”

“I came over to surprise you guys with breakfast,” he says, as if it is the most obvious thing in the world. As if it makes perfect sense that our son, who we used to spray with water to stop him from taking bacon out of the pan, would come over to make breakfast. “I thought you’d be up by now. I’ve been here for like two hours.”

That gets my eyes fully open as I baulk, “Two hours?! Hagen, why on Earth would you do that?”

“To surprise you,” he replies in a mumble. I watch his shoulders drop and a moment later, he’s shrinking. “I thought you guys would like it and we could spend the morning together.”

“Oh, pu—” I stop myself as he pales, mortification passing through us both. “Hagen,” I correct and he reddens just as badly as I feel myself doing, “that’s lovely. I’m just a little surprised.” He nods, avoiding my eyes. “Give your Dad and me a few minutes to wake up, and we’ll be down.”

“Okay!” Hagen scampers off, running at full speed until he reaches the stairs then he just jumps. Just goes flying over the edge.

I wait for a cry of pain, but when nothing more than a ‘uff’ comes, I close the door behind me and turn slowly. Sitting up with his hands propped behind him, Aiden stares at me with the same confusion I’m sure I’m sporting.

“What’s going on?” He asks.

“I don’t know,” I breathe. “He’s here again.”

“Yeah, but why?”

“I. don’t. know.”
