Hellooo humanssssssssssss!!!!

Now, this is late coming, but I’m here! As always, I’m going to go through my goals for the year and see how many I hit or where I fell short🫣

I’m a little scared, but here we go!

NUMBER 1
FINISH WRITING 3/4 of Control ✔

Strategy:

– update 2-3 chapters a month ❌

– give chapters some room to breathe before uploading ✔

– try to write a little every day ❌

Okay, so I do think we’re just under the 3/4 mark for Control so I’ve given myself a tick! We’re currently at 35 chapters, but when you add in the memories, we’re at like 40-something.

Honestly, considering this year I finished university and starting working, I’m impressed with how much I got done. Did I write nearly as much as I hoped? No, not even close. We were lucky to get a chapter a month, sometimes one every other month (sorry), but I’m happy with the direction of the book, though I know it’s been a rollercoaster.

As for the remaining 1/4 (maybe more like 1/3 idk), I’m not going to rush it cause we have a lot of complex plotlines to finish nicely. Like Nikola telling Hagen about his autism, the pair of them actually realising what type of relationship they have (kinky fuckers) and the pair of them openly addressing their history, thorns and all.

I think the biggest hurdle we’ve gotten over is them realising how desperately they need one another. Whether or not it’s healthy or they even want it. It’s just reality.

I know not everyone is happy with the Dark Romance aspects of the book and them also running in circles at points, but that’s all on purpose I promise I’m not losing it. We know they are heading towards a BDSM-relationship where Hagen is the brat, but they don’t so when Hagen resists and they argue, it’s him being a brat a bit, but they don’t have the structure necessary for that, so it sort of falls apart.

But we’re getting there! And I promise I have a plan!

NUMBER 2
FINISH WRITING Alpha Mates Rewrite ❌

Strategy:

– update 2 chapters a month ❌

– try to write a little every day ❌

– reread chapters to keep the plot fresh in mind so that I do not derail the book ❌🫣

Okay jokes aside, I fell apart with this goal because I ran into a speedbump pretty early on in the year that I was not prepared for at all. 

Basically, in my head, rewriting the book wasn’t going to be all that hard of a task. I’d go into some chapters, tweak them and move on, but I’ve been changing parts of the plot, exchanging POVS, rewritting rewritten chapters, developing their thought processes and the biggest thing, the original chapters were like 1000 words and we all know I write way more than that.

At some points, it felt like writing an entirely new book, but it’s been a learning curb and there’s always a benefit in learning something.

As for the 2 updates a month, I could barely manage the extras and a control update at some points of this year, so 2 chapters a month was crazy, and I couldn’t write a little every day cause I was fucking exhausted most days.

So sadly, I missed this goal completely!

NUMBER 3
REACH 1000 PATRONS ON PATREON ✔️/❌

Strategy:

– Include more polls and interactive posts ❌

– Aim to upload the three extras in good time 🙃

– Advertise my Patreon a little more ❌

Okay, where to start with this one. Well, I had to pause the Patreon again in the middle of finals cause well I had a bit of a mental breakdown and I just needed to put something aside. And I wasn’t uploading nearly as much of AM as I planned or advertising it.

TBH, I started feeling really bad advertising Patreon extras when some months I didn’t even have a chapter up. It was like a spit in the face, so I just fell off with it sometimes. Then there’s the fact that there are people who want to subscribe but can’t cause of their countries. It just felt shitty overall.

Sadly, starting a 9-5 made things even harder because well, my journey was long as hell and by the time I got back home and ate, I was drained and it just was too much. 

Anyway, things didn’t pan out as I planned. 

Technically I do have over 1000 patrons according to Patreon, which is why I have that tick, but those aren’t all paying Patrons and that’s what I’m thinking of with this goal!

NUMBER 4
Start writing a new book – maybe✔️

I did start a new book, but I only managed 2 chapters 😭

I don’t even know what to say about this, other than I do plan to continue. I just couldn’t work on it when I was barely managing the books and extras as it was.

But it will return!!!!!

NUMBER 5
Do more double updates ?

Strategy:

– Don’t aim to write an entire chapter in a single sitting ✔️

– Give chapters time to breathe ✔️

Recap:

Here’s the thing with this goal, I have no idea how many double updates I did last year to compare, but I can recall about 3/4 double updates this year, so maybe that’s more? IDK.

As for the strategy, the chapters had no choice but to breathe with the time between updates lmfaoooo (not funny) and I couldn’t write a single chapter in one sitting cause of my schedule so those happened by default lmfaoooooo (again, not funny).

I love double updates though, it feels like all is right in the world for just a little while.

NUMBER 6
Make all humans cry ?

As always, this one is up to you guys. There are some demons here who refuse to shed a tear, but I hope I got some of ya’ll with the tougher Control chapters?

And that’s a wrap on my 2023 goals!!!

Am I happy with what I achieved? Absolutely not. But I am acutely aware that last year was one of the hardest years for me and my writing. I’ve never been stressed the way I was stressed this year, so I’m not going to beat myself over it.

I think I hit one goal which is shit, BUT considering what I have planned for the coming year, I think it’ll more than make up for it!!!
