There was this saying. A human one.

I still remember how the simple phrase had immediately overwhelmed my thoughts the first time I heard it. Maybe it was because it was so simple that I’d connected with it, or maybe it had to do with the fact that when I was seventeen, all I ever felt was like I was being kicked down, day after day.
