Mekhi’s POV
Everyone gasps, Aias included.
“We’re not watching a fucking movie,” Wequie declares, and before they can protest, he bundles the cord and shoves it down his shirt. It presses foolishly against it, already slipping out the bottom, but he acts as if he doesn’t as he props his hands on his hips. “It’s Mekhi’s first night out with us, and you boring sad-sacks want to watch a movie? This was supposed to be a pre-night out before the night out, remember?”
“We were waiting for you, if you remember,” Lincoln reminds him with a heavy sigh.
“Fifteen minutes. We’re late fifteen minutes, and you all were about to pull out the blankets and watch—” Wequie stops to scoop up the case that’s sitting on top of an old but well-kept DVD player. His expression immediately morphs into one of disgust. “You can’t be serious?” He turns the case around. “You were going to watch Ice Age?”
“I was told it was a documentary on the creatures that existed before the meteor,” Aias states with a small frown.
I laugh. I can’t help it. Elven eyes immediately slice across to me. I stifle it and look away.
“It’s a kids’ movie,” Wequie corrects, and those sharp eyes immediately free me to pin themselves on a poorly hidden Kalem instead.
“It’s a good movie,” he defends from behind Lincoln’s back. “And if it’s basically historically accurate, then isn’t it technically a documentary?”
I bite my lip this time.
“We’re not watching Ice Age,” Wequie declares, tossing the movie aside. “We’re starting the night out here, and then we’re going out.”
There’s a uniform groan that Wequie ignores as he strides to the couches and scoops up an unopened bottle of tequila that’s got his name written all over it. Literally. It’s sitting beside an already-opened bottle of wine with Malcolm’s on it and a blood bag with Lincoln’s.
There’s pretty much a label on something for everyone but me.
It’s fine. They’re a family and know each other well. I’m new, and besides, I don’t like to—
“Wequie says you don’t like to drink.” I startle a little, turning lately to see the vampire standing beside me with a flowered ashtray in one hand and a bowl of pinkish leaves in the other. “He says you like the plants that make you really relaxed.”
“Um.” I glance around. The last thing I want to be seen doing is corrupting Kalem, but no one’s paying us much attention.
“It’s good,” he promises, pressing it closer. “I mean, I don’t know. I don’t drink very much or do the plants. It feels mean. The plants, I mean. It’s like eating a plant corpse after they’ve all been so nice to me… but I guess I do that with animals too.” He frowns, and then pales as horror suddenly drapes itself over him. “Oh Gods…”
lmfaooooo KALEM! I’VE MISSED YOU, MY LOVE!!!!!
Thoughts???????
Kalem only realising he’s eating animal corpses cause he’s trying to be a good host and get Mekhi high is really fucking my shit lmfaooooo
I can’t wait for this extra! Originally, I thought it’d be mixed POV, but I think it’ll mostly be Mekhi in the end!
Should be out by Wednesday/Thursday and it’ll be available for all tiers BUT the Copper Tier
Love you all,
Tippy
