“He showed up in my pack on Friday,” Josey reports, the snitch. “Wanted to see if Kai and I really had a meeting. It’s a fucking miracle I even managed to slip past borders without him jumping out like Pennywise.”

I frown. I wasn’t even ginger.

“I feel like we have to switch tactics here, Dad,” Levi pipes up. “Clearly, this isn’t working.”

I knew it. I fucking knew it! The sneaky fuckers were planning something.

“I know,” Julian sighs, his exhaustion evident, but I don’t feel guilty for one second. He wouldn’t be so tired if he didn’t put himself in a scenario where he’d have to lie so much. “I’ve actually been thinking the same. I was thinking maybe we could do this.” Paper ruffles and unfolds, and by the sounds of things, it’s big. “There’s still enough time.”

Muffled footsteps sound over the carpet, and soon everyone is making appreciative and impressed ‘ooo’ and ‘ahhh’ sounds. Of course the deviant fuckers would be impressed by a plan to put me in a coma until my birthday or whatever else Julian came up with in the dark.

Either way, it’s proof enough.

“AH-HA!” I jump up, springing to my feet like a cat, only to slam my head straight into the window’s sharpest corner. “MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!”

I clutch my head, screaming while it quakes, vibrating as pins and needles prick all over my body and over my spine.

“Shit, I felt that,” Hagen mumbles.

“That looks like it hurt,” Damon murmurs.

“Like a bitch,” Josey adds.

“Papa, are you okay?” My favourite asks, racing over beside his clone who reaches me first, concern written all over his face.

“Aiden, what the hell are you doing out there?” He scolds even as he reaches out the window to gently pry my hand away and get a look at my still pulsing head.

“Catching you…” wince “… in the act.”

He frowns at me, concern making him slow. “What?”

“I heard you,” I say, shoving past his arms and climbing through the window.

“Hey!” Damon protests, jumping up as I scoot over the table posted beneath the window, leaving him to catch what falls off. “You’re making a mess! You’re bringing mud in!”

“Karma for all the years you did the same,” I say, moving past him and his father to reach the large canvas Levi not-so-subtly tries to roll up. “Stop there, you shitbag! It’s never too late to return you to sender.”

He sighs, and I snatch the large planning sheet up before anyone can stop me. “I knew you were all in on it, unloyal bastards trying to trick me on my own birthday with…”

Isn’t it so good to see Aiden’s crazy ass again? I loveeee writing from his pov, he’s so unfiltered.
