Zhoron’s P.O.V

No creature was without fault. None. It was the only insurmountable fact of the universe.

There were different makers, varying Gods, and some were wicked, others generous, but in one aspect, they all shared one cruel trait— they would never create anything perfect. Perfection would pose a threat.

So no creature was without fault. I was without fault. I made incorrect moves, and sometimes, I did things I regretted, things I could no better avoid than any other because I, like the rest of us, was without fault.

Internal monologues aside, it didn’t change the fact that in this, in inviting this starry robin into my stronghold, I’d made the greatest mistake of all.

“You’re awake!”
