Neo’s POV

“Neo?”

I drag my gaze away from the window to Theo, giving him the attention he apparently wanted so desperately. Theo smiles patiently at me, trying for kind, which I can tell isn’t an act, but he also shifts enough for me to know he’s nervous.

I don’t understand why. He’s an alpha– my alpha– and I’m just a wolf in his domain.

“I didn’t know if you were listening,” he says with a slight tilt in his head. “I was asking how you’ve been doing recently.”

“I’m fine.”

Theo blinks at me. I blink at him. 

“Just fine?” He prompts. 

“Just fine.”
