“Peter! Be careful or you’ll fall!”

I stop my squirming at Daddy’s shout, looking away from the driveway for the first time and down at my feet where I spot just how close to the edge of the front steps I’d gotten. I scramble back, but it’s not long before I’m inching forward again. I just couldn’t help it, I was too excited and Papa was taking too long to bring Levi and Damon home, but Daddy said they’d be here any minute now.

Daddy said that every day though and the minutes only felt extra longer each time I had to wait. For some reason, whenever it came to the soft afternoon part of the day, when Levi and Damon came home from school, time moved super slow! It was also quick when Dad was reading to me, or I was sleeping or playing with the twins, but whenever it came time for my big brothers to come home, it slowed down on purpose!
