Control Chapter 57

Nikola’s POV

I stare at the slate of smooth wood in front of me.

I stare with my eyes trained on it while I rub my fingers against my cheeks, hoping to soothe the ache there.

My cheeks were sore— they had been for several days now, and I did not know why.

It was strange because I’d never felt this particular ache so I could not immediately pinpoint the cause. In cases like this, I surveyed the new changes within my routine until I uprooted the cause, but that was particularly challenging in this case when so much had changed in my life recently.

The only grace was that the ache wasn’t anything debilitating, more a slight peculiarity that I hoped would stop itself with time. That was another strange thing.

In another instance, I would be unable to leave the soreness to be dealt with by something as unreliable as time or happenstance. I would bring my entire life to a standstill until I solved the mystery. I would not be able to function otherwise.

This time was different, mainly because I was distracted. I was distracted all the time now.

It should’ve been impossible for my brain to ever be distracted, let alone for a period long enough for me to forget something so odd. Still, it was, and that was because the distraction… well, it was simply the best distraction in the world, and it came in the form of my wonderful mate.

My lips twitch as Hagen overtakes my mind, and the ache worsens.

Somehow, by Goddess’ grace and despite her endless curses, I had Hagen all to myself, and in this world, where there was only the two of us, he made everything wonderfully irrelevant. Big or small, taxing or trivial, it lost all meaning if it was not directly linked to him.

The only problem at present was the fact that my mate was hiding from me.

“Hagen,” I call with my gaze still fixed on the bathroom door.

“Five more minutes!” He shouts immediately. “I just need five more minutes!”

“You said that five minutes ago,” I remind while my spread fingers dig into my thighs to keep me still and my ancestral magic at bay.

“I know,” he replies with a whine that sounds nearly as frustrated as I felt. Nearly. “This is just— fucking— Ugh! Fuck my life. Just five minutes, okay? I know how you are with time; I’m trying my best.”

“It’s not a matter of time in this case,” I correct quickly. Perhaps there had been a miscommunication here. I straighten, eager to clear it up, “Our commitments are our own, there’s no reservation and once we go within the next six hours, we will be fine. You can take as long as you wish; I will wait. I just want to see you. Can I—”

“No!” Hagen booms before I can finish the request.

I slump back into the hammock with a reinforced glare. Sadly, there hadn’t been a miscommunication.

The rising sun marked the beginning of our first day in our off-world escape, and I had plans to show Hagen around, but not before surprising him with something small. When I’d shared as much with him— about the exploration, not the surprise— he had barely been able to contain his excitement long enough for us to brush our teeth. Once we did, I was lavished with enough kisses to last a lifetime. How lucky was I that this was only the start of ours?

Fuelled by his excitement, we’d taken the time to wash up together, and while I’d reluctantly left him to finish off, I prepared all I needed for his surprise with the help of my stocked void. I’d expected Hagen to be ready by the time I’d set my packed bags by the entryway, but I’d been wrong.

Hagen had locked himself in our makeshift bathroom, and when I’d tried to enter, not only was I not allowed inside, but he demanded that I did not peep in, with or without the use of my magic.

I should’ve questioned him more then, but I’d been too stunned to realise he knew I watched him like that and didn’t seem to care. I regretted that now, after almost half an hour of trying to survive life with him away from my preview.

That was the problem.

I could not see him. I could not feel him. I could not smell him. I could not keep him, and I hated it.

The worst parts of me itched to ignore his plea, but I was unfortunately well-versed in deciphering when Hagen was serious and when he was being playful. In this case, he was most serious, and I did not want to upset him on our first day, especially not after how happy he’d been the previous night.

Hagen had seen my magic at work more times than not, but as he’d watched my earth magic craft this dwelling that would be our home, he’d barely kept himself still while his eyes had sparkled with wonder.

Our haven was different from the structures we were used to, mainly because while it could be done, where would sink pipes lead on a planet without plumbing? Too many discrepancies. Instead, I’d fashioned it after the lodgings the pixels developed in their realm.

My earth magic had sunk deep, coaxing the planet’s soil to lift first and solidify, forming the base of our home. From there, thick trees sprouted, speeding through their life cycles and then joining to make walls with their bark. A roofing had formed from their thick ballooning heads, and at night, it appeared like a filtered lens, showcasing the stars above in a blue tint.

There was not much inside, only what was needed for comfort; a bed layered framed by more bark and layered with the landscape’s closest forms of cotton, a table and set of chairs to eat from, the bathroom Hagen was currently hogging, and finally, a strung hammock in front of the window for Hagen’s pleasure since he had a childlike love for the things.

It had been the first thing Hagen had jumped on when I’d finished and allowed him to run inside. He’d swung about until he fell on the floor and then he was up and exploring every crevice with many ‘oh shit’s and ‘holy fuck’s spilling from his lips. And then, he was in my arms, those lips were against mine, and there were only ‘I love you’s.

It had been bliss— it was bliss because somehow, that was only last night, and there was more to come.

With his affection so freely given now, I fear we won’t live to see the end of our lifetime — Neo inserts with an anxious sigh — and I haven’t even had Zyair yet.

You will soon — I promise while I try to soothe his hunger. I fail since it is an identical match to mine.

You sound like Hagen in there — he retorts quickly, prodding amusement inside of me — In seriousness, you must do it soon or I will. I want you to have Hagen first because he is — how does one say… ah, the most vulnerable — but I have waited long enough Nikola.

I want to bristle at that description, but in the context Neo meant it, he was not wrong.

We will mate soon — I promise — then you will have your turn.

Neo huffs, but relents with what was likely the last vestiges of his patience. He’d grown quieter over the last few weeks, keeping to himself in an effort to ‘stay away from temptation’. I appreciated his efforts, but I also missed his company.

From what I heard of others’ relationships with their wolves, Neo and I were not such a vocal pair but our connection was still unwavering. We understood one another without words, but in trying to control himself, Neo diminished in presence, and that was a course I did not favour.

I am here and I will always be here, Nikola — he comforts with evident amusement — I’m just teetering here, but I promise once I’ve filled Zyair with my cum, I’ll be as I was.

Neo — I warn as I try to smother his lustful thoughts.

I wanted the same things as Neo, but I could not afford to entertain such thoughts just yet. I did want to mate with Hagen, and I knew he longed for it more with each day, but this was not only our mating but our first time together in such a manner.

I would not have it be anything other than perfection for Hagen, and if that were to be done, then I needed to take my time with him.

Patience was key.

Patience is a bitch — Neo snarls as he fades away.

Yes. Patience was also that.

Wood scratches over hardened soil, bringing me onto my feet in an instant. Hagen barely makes it over the threshold before I have him in my arms with a hold he can neither escape nor loosen. The tightness in my chest finally unwinds as my soul settles its frantic vibrating with Hagen’s close again.

“You’re smothering me,” he mumbles against my chest.

I don’t take the comment into account, mainly because, as he says it, Hagen wraps his arms around me and squeezes just as tight.

“You kept us apart for thirty-one minutes,” I inform while I inhale, forcing his salty scent to invade my senses.

“You counted?” He asks, lifting his head so that his brown eyes meet mine.

“Of course I counted.”

For some reason, that makes Hagen smile, so I mentally instil a directive to let him know when I counted things more often.

“What were you doing in there?”

Hagen drops his gaze, “Oh, just getting ready,” he dismisses with a shrug.

“If that’s the case why are you blushing?” I ask as I settle my fingers over his heating neck.

“I’m not!” He replies, trying to tug his collar up to hide. It does nothing. “I was getting ready. You didn’t tell me what we were doing so I had to cover all bases.”

“What bases?” I ask as I turn him by his chin so that he’s looking at me again. “You’re not particularly the most hygienic person, Hagen.”

“Hey!” Hagen chides, pulling his chin from my grasp with a scowl. “That’s not true or you wouldn’t even be with me.”

How did I explain to him how terrifying a thing love was?

“You won’t tell me,” I state, realising it for what it is.

“Do you want to know every time I take shit?” He retorts with a raised brow.

I frown, “Of course not, don’t be disgusting.”

“You asked.”

“We both know that’s not what you were doing, Hagen,” I retort, gaze hardening.

Hagen hums as a grin spreads across his lips, and there’s a look in his eyes that makes me stiffen.

“You’re trying to distract me,” I declare, but I don’t pull away or stop him as his eyes drop to my lips.

“Um-hum.”

Chestnut eyes dart between mine before they fall shut, brushing my skin with his lashes as his lips meet mine. My eyes follow suit, enveloping me with darkness that centres my thoughts on the explosion of ecstasy that follows with every kiss he gifts to me. Colours dance behind my eyelids, sparking pleasure unrestrained within my veins as I succumb to my mate.

I had kissed Hagen many times now, but those that came from him were the very best of all. They grounded my feet in this realm while his soul took hold of mine and showed it things I could never find without him.

With a pleased hum, Hagen draws back just enough for his eyes to find mind again, “Now, are you ready to go or do you want to keep interrogating me?”

“…I’m not sure.”

Hagen laughs and kisses me again to secure his hex before he pulls me towards the door. I follow him, pliant and dazed, until he picks up one of the bags I’d readied and reaches for the next. I grab it before he can and then take the first from him with a firm grasp.

“Hey!” Hagen protests, whirling in his place as he tries to reclaim one. “I can carry it.”

“I know you can,” I reply while I lean past him to open the door for him. “That doesn’t mean I’ll allow you too.”

Hagen glowers at me, annoyance flickering in his gaze until I slip my free hand into his. He falters as my magic ripples between us, succumbing to the pleasure and claim through our link before his glare hardens.

“That’s cheating,” he accuses, though he notably makes no more attempts to snatch either of the bags from me.

I step into his space, forcing my presence into every crevice of his being, “I suppose it’s a good thing neither of us plays fair in this relationship, hm?”

Pressing a chaste kiss to his forehead, I lead us through the main door and into the open air of this world that I’d claimed as ours, and Hagen follows.

Any thoughts of fighting seem to purge themselves from his mind as he take in our surroundings in the daylight. Yesterday, we’d come quite late in the evening and our first date had been an evening affair too.

Today, the clear skies are slightly orange-hued, like the beginning of a sunset in warmer climates home, but it’s only the start of the day here. That was where the similarities stopped. The landscape was like nothing on Earth; everything was brighter in colour, and there were no lifeforms beyond the vegetation that completed the space around us.

“How is it possible that this place looks even better in the day?” Hagen asks with an open-mouthed laugh.

Gaze darting from corner to corner, Hagen takes in everything he can with a radiant smile while mine stays fixed on him. The way his eyes gleamed was far more interesting to me than anything around us.

With my linker in hand, I start us north, toward the immense trees outlining the clearing we’d set up our base within.

When I first found this pocket universe, I did what I did for every prospective planet of exploration. I left several varying plants here to test several things, such as oxygen levels and the passage of time.

The results showed that the days were shorter here, but time was not warped in relation to the one home. Other than that, there was nothing of concern, and the plants had remained intact, allowing me to explore without concern.

The pocket realm was tiny amongst the scale of things, but like Hagen, I’d been enamoured by the way the soil’s hue deepened upon contact as if this earth was responding in its own way, and I knew even without exploring all of it, that Hagen would love it.

“I still can’t believe we’re really here,” Hagen says, still looking in every direction he can, but never at the risk of releasing my hand.

“Neither can I.” When he looks at me, I explain, “I never imagined that if I did claim you, you would want to come with me to places like this.”

“Nik, we’re literally in another universe,” he deadpans. “Who wouldn’t want to do that?”

“It’s only us,” I remind. “I never thought you’d be comfortable with such a situation. Plus, it is quiet. You don’t like quiet.”

“No, I don’t,” Hagen admits with another one of his sweetest laughs, “but I like you, and after everything we’ve been through, I really like quiet with you. Plus,” he mocks, “if it’s not already clear, I am very comfortable with this situation.”

I almost miss my next step but my body’s reflexes manage to keep me upright. I thank Goddess for that rare blessing.

“But you’re sure there’s nothing running around here, right?” Hagen asks, eyeing the nearing tree line with apparent wariness.

“There is nothing here but us,” I assure him while my magic slinks over his body, settling firmly around his neck the way my occupied fingers itch to. Hagen shudders, and his shoulders melt as he looks at me, “There are no Velociraptors, I promise.”

Hagen’s hazed eyes clear in a second as recognition sparks. Confusion follows in quick succession, and then— “You watched it,” he breathes with something akin to awe. “You watched Jurassic Park.”

“Yes,” I confirm, stopping as he does so we’re not separated.

Hagen stares at me, and though he blinks three times, the wonder does not fade from his attentive gaze, “Because I mentioned it? The last time we were here?”

“I wouldn’t have watched it otherwise, Hagen.”

I frown in the face of his expression. He couldn’t possibly think I was the type that liked those types of movies.

“Nikola,” he half groans and half moans and then suddenly, I find myself with a handful of my mate as he tries to scale my body.

It is confusing what has spurred it on, but I do not complain or do something foolish, like try and stop him as he attempts to climb onto me for a thorough hug.

Hagen was a hugger.
I always knew he was tactile, but I’d never distinguished that he specifically loved hugs. He gave them all the time to me, and now, I too, was a hugger, but only with Hagen.

“You’re so fucking amazing,” he declares when he steps back with a glowing smile. “You do shit like that, and then you just drop it in like it’s nothing.”

“It is nothing,” I argue while he thankfully takes my hand back in his before I have to reach for him again.

“To you, maybe, but most people don’t go through so much effort for other people, Nik,” Hagen explains as we continue walking with his eyes on me. Hagen doesn’t stare at into the awaiting vegetation as we step under the trees’ foliage or the unfamiliar treasures within, his gaze is only on me.

I want to watch him too, but I need to get us to the spot I have in mind, so unfairly, only I do not get to stare.

“I wouldn’t do it for anyone else,” I clarify incase he wrongfully thought I would. “Only for you. I give everything to you.”

“Okay seriously, Nik. Stop talking,” Hagen calls from behind, his fingers digging into mine. “I’m horny enough as is without you being perfect.”

I feel my lips pull at the corners as I tighten the hold my magic has around his neck.

“Nik!” Hagen groans, but I continue onwards.

The ache in my cheeks worsens, not that I notice.

I lead us onwards, following a path inscribed within the heavy vegetation that grows wild with nothing to touch or disturb its path. Spiked plants sprout from the ground at weird angles while flowery ones climb high and hang from above, the petals drooping down like a carefully laid sculpture. In the distance, a snowcapped mountain can be seen with a jagged outline, and Hagen points excitedly every time it breaches the leaves overhead.

Hagen is entranced by all of it, and it is a beautiful thing to watch.

When his fingers trace along the plants that reach his hip, and the hues change from the contact, he makes it his personal mission to touch everything he can. Sometimes, he wants to touch things off-course, which means I too have to go off-course because we refuse to let go of one another, so I stand sentinel beside him while he laughs and taps the vegetation with curious fingers.

The plants light up the same each time, and yet, Hagen’s fascination never withers. I love every second of it.

It’s some time before we near our destination, but I know the moment we do when my ears prick, catching rushing trickles from the rivulet up ahead.

“What is that?” Hagen asks, forgetting the latest ten-petalled red plant he’d seen in favour of falling into step beside me. The trees were dispersing, and the path widening enough that he could match each step with mine.

I stare ahead, but my attention remains fixated on our steps. They’re perfectly in sync.

Hagen used to force them to be so in the castle when he’d pursued me, as I had when I’d first lived with him in the human city, but now, it is a natural thing. It just happens, like the way our hearts beat together, the rhythm exactly the same.

At one point this morning, while I waited for Hagen to wake, I’d held my breath, and as my heart rate increased, so did Hagen’s. I’d kissed the skin over the loyal organ ten times while he’d slept.

“Is that water?” Hagen asks next. “That’s water, right? All water sounds the same.”

I don’t answer, wanting it to be a surprise— well, as much as a surprise as it could be.

I did not favour surprises; there were too many unknowns, but Hagen loved them, and I wanted to always fill his life with all the things he loved. I wanted his days stuffed with joy, to the point that his soul was never still but always swarming with delight.

“Are we going swimming? Oh my Goddess, are we?!” Hagen asks, desperate to ruin his surprise.

“Patience, pup,” I chide while I let my earth magic seizes the bags from my grasp. “It’s a surprise.”

Following my instructions, they travel ahead to lay out the picnic so at least one surprise would escape Hagen’s curiosity.

Hagen quiets and when I glance at him, I find him biting the inside of his warming cheeks while he tries to push onto his feet, as if doing so would give him a better glimpse of what’s ahead.

I tug him along, leading us forward until we break through the other side of the forest’s tree line and into the opening, only breached by the broad stream curving down the centre and into the distance.

The water was a lighter orange than the overhead sky, with a fairly strong current gliding down the carved path. At its banks were moss-green stones of all sizes, but just before that waited our pre-set picnic with our breakfast in the form of sandwiches, juices and fruit.

I glance at Hagen, only to find him already watching me rather than the river. I frown a little.

“I thought perhaps we could spend the day how we used to when we were younger,” I explain when he says nothing. “You love to swim when it’s warm, and it is safe to, I promise.”

Still, Hagen says nothing; he just stares at me, his lips slightly parted, and his heart racing so quickly it forces mine to do the same.

“I thought you would like this,” I try again, my gaze shifting between him and the picnic. The memories of when we spent our summer days together were fond ones for me, but perhaps they weren’t for him.

Before I can speak again, Hagen frees my hand, causing panic to spider around my lungs until he takes my face with both his hands. I lean into the touch, my body relenting like my soul as I peer at him.

“Nikola,” he breathes, and it’s not a whine or a groan like earlier. He says my name lovingly, like a secret he adored to keep. “I like this,” he states very clearly, “I like this a lot.”

“Good,” I reply as the tension trickles out of me.

Hagen smiles as his thumbs brush my cheeks, and suddenly, my heart is the one leading the way, “I love this.” That was good. “This is perfect.” That was even better. “You’re perfect… I can’t believe it took me this long to see you.”

I… I don’t know what happens. I can’t tell because his words make my mind blank, and a million and one inexplicable emotions and feelings swell inside of me, but they all feel good, so I do not panic.

“I see you now, Nik,” Hagen continues, apparently on a mission to kill us both. “And I love everything I see.”

“Okay, now you stop,” I say around the strings, pulling at my vocal cords. I bracket his hands with my own and stare at him with the utmost seriousness, “I love you, and I love every word you have said, but it’s too much all together and given at once. So stop.”

Hagen’s lips pull into an impish smile a second before his teeth sink into it.

“Hagen,” I beg, and then he’s laughing. Goddess have mercy.

“I love you,” he continues as he frees his hands to wrap his arms around my neck. “I love you. I love you. I loveeee you.”

The dirt beneath us trembles like my fingers before they manage to clasp Hagen’s lips shut. I meet his eyes over them and find them shining with mischievous pleasure.

At this rate, we wouldn’t have a full lifetime together.

“Hagen,” I say as seriously as I can. “Stop, or we might never see this world again.”

Despite my warning, Hagen laughs behind my palms, but he nods a little. I wait until our racing hearts have calmed to pull my hand away, but I keep my warry eyes on my devious mate.

“I love when you get like this,” he confesses while I try to breathe. It’s particularly challenging with his gaze nailed to me. “You become antsy and a little unhinged.”

I sigh as I push the hair from his face, “That’s because I can’t control myself when you’re like this.”

Hagen grins like he just won some secret prize, “Good.”

Groaning, I lean in for a kiss, and Hagen gives it to me freely and without hesitation. I take him in hand, bringing him closer while my tongue delves into his mouth, and Hagen moans with gratitude.

The kiss is gentle, mostly— I can’t help but sink my teeth into his bottom lip, leaving an imprint over his, but I reign myself in before we can lose ourselves.

I was hosting a growing appetite that ached to produce and consume more of my linker’s pleasure, but I was determined for us to have today first— today at the very least, where we were together and happy.

A simple day like all the ones we used to share and the many more we missed over the years.

Hagen grumbles when I pull away from him, but he follows me closely as I inch us towards the picnic. It only takes getting within the vicinity of the food for Hagen’s excitement to return tenfold.

“Is that a jelly-bacon sandwich?!” Hagen asks, somehow developing x-ray vision to see through the containers’ lids.

“Yes,” I confirm while he speedily sinks onto the blanket and eagerly reaches for his favourite.

Squirming with excitement, Hagen begins popping all the lids open to see what awaited him, and I dutifully slide each beneath their aligned contained so that nothing is mismatched. I’ve barely got them all and sat down before Hagen takes a bite of his first sandwich.

Strawberry jam and bacon was not a combination I favoured— the flavours and consistencies were too different for me to consume together, but it had always been a favourite for Hagen. I’m glad that it still is as I watch his eyes fall shut while he loudly groans his pleasure.

Hagen savours the single bite like it might be his last before he finally swallows. His eyes pop open for his next bite, and I can’t help but chuckle as his next groan somehow doubles in volume.

“What?” He asks, but I shake my head as I watch him shuffle closer so that our thighs are touching.

I feel my muscles unwind at the contact, easing the slight unrest that had begun to stir without it. Once I am settled, I claim a container for myself, the one with prepped watermelon.

An easy quiet comes upon us, and within into hold, we eat together. Hagen’s gaze flits to the water and our surroundings every now and again, and then he looks at me, and I momentarily forget how to breathe.

I take my time eating while Hagen sets out to break world records as he stuffs his face with everything in reach. He leaves specific containers untouched for me, not even prodding inside so that they’re undisturbed.

My magic ripples over his body in thanks, and Hagen smiles, somehow knowing.

“Good shit,” he declares as he packs up the empty containers to clear space for himself once he’s done.

I watch with aching cheeks as he lays himself down like a starfish across the large blanket.

“Mhmm, yeah,” Hagen groans as he closes his eyes and nods a little, soaking in the sunshine, “Yeah, that was good shit.”

“I’m glad you enjoyed it,” I reply between the bites of my own sandwich.

I was a slow eater, even without Hagen in the picture, so I was only halfway through my food. Hagen didn’t mind though; he never did.

“I always enjoy your food,” he states while he slides one hand beneath his head while the other taps around until his fingers find the end of my shirt. He holds onto it and releases a deep breath. “Good shit.”

With a short laugh spilling out of me, I watch my linker as he bathes in the sun. There’s no other option but to watch him, and though I know Hagen— his soul, mind and body— I catalogue every inch of his face once again.

Hagen’s brows aren’t thick, but they’re full and shaped well, with only a few sparse hairs out of place. They’re dark brown, like his hair that’s a mix of dark blondes and brown strands that I’m sure come from his Heil heritage. I think his jaw comes from that side of the family too, strong and outlined, only disturbed by the shadow of stubble he didn’t shave this morning.

The rest of him is softer, like his cheeks and nose that straighten until the end, where it rounds a little. Then there were his lashes, long and beautiful and hard to see when his eyes were open and so distracting with their warmth. Closed now, I study the lashes for a long time, that is, until my gaze settles over his freckles.

They were barely there, hard to see since we’d spent so much time underground, but they were there. In the sun, I could see them dotted over his nose and cheekbones, and I almost vibrated with excitement at the prospect of seeing them this close when the summer heat drew them out.

“Nik,” Hagen whispers, bringing my attention to his lips.

They were lovely and a darker pink. The bottom was plump, the top cushioned, both so very perfect for—

“Nik,” Hagen calls again as he cracks open one eye to look at me.

“Yes.”

“Stop staring at me. I’m getting hard, and unless we can do anything about that, I need you to stop.”

I glance down at his shorts, where his cock presses against the fabric. It takes effort to return my gaze back to his.

“I can’t,” I reply, honestly. “I’m sorry.”

I’m not entirely sorry. I’d begged him to be merciful with his affections earlier, and he had only tortured me more, so this was rightful retribution.

My gaze lowers to his crotch again. I swallow, and to my delight, I see the fabric tighten around his thickening cock.

“Nik,” Hagen groans in a near whine as his hand slinks over his hip. My magic latches around his wrist before it can travel any further. “That’s not fair!”

“We’re enjoying a picnic, Hagen,” I remind as I hover over him. “It would be inappropriate to touch yourself.”

“Fine,” Hagen groans as he sits up so suddenly that he almost hits my chin. “I’m going for a swim.”

The ache in my cheeks return as I watch my mate’s hasty retreat, “I have swimming shorts for you.”

“No need,” Hagen calls back with a wave over his shoulder that turns my smile into a frown.

Surely he wouldn’t swim in those shorts. They weren’t meant for swimming. But as Hagen approaches the river’s bank and tugs his shirt over his head before his thumbs dip into the rim of his shorts, I realise with a dreadful quickness that he did not intend to swim in any clothes at all.

My lips fall open, seeking air that refuses to come to me as I watch Hagen shove his pants and underwear down. Without pause or hesitation, he steps out of them, leaving them behind with his shirt as he continues onwards, completely naked.

By the plains… Hagen was naked.

Neo growls within my chest, pressing against the surface for control. I fight against him as I straighten with my gaze glued to my mate’s naked body with a predator’s focus.

Hagen was naked.

My gaze skitters over his body, struggling to take in all the open skin all at once. It drops frequently though, settling on his firm ass that moves with each step. The sun acts as a beautiful friend to him, shining down on him with all its love and illuminating all his unblemished skin that was missing only fresh evidence of my love.

While I stare with almost none of my motor skills in function, Hagen steps into the water, not once bothering to glance back at me. He lets the water swallow him up, stealing with it my view before he sinks under. As he’d stated, my mate swims while I stare after him, harder than he’d ever been.

I don’t breathe again until he resurfaces, but I lose the breath when his eyes find mine within an instant.

Hagen’s lips spread, and he smiles at me. Gods, he smiles, and it is as glorious as it is taunting.

It’s enough. I am tortured enough, but I was coming to learn there was no line with Hagen when it came to driving me into a madness crafted from my longing for him.

There can’t be, otherwise, he wouldn’t flip within the water, exposing the wet globes of his ass to me before he beings to swim, letting the river’s stream guide him away from me.

“Enjoy the rest of your breakfast!”

Breakfast? I glance down, only then noticing the half-eaten sandwich still in my grasp.
